I have just moved across the country and am trying to get my life in order! I did run across something today that was pretty cool. <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 204, 0);font-size:130%;" >Wonder Woman #3 </span>is finally going to come out (it is seriously months late)! Yay! Here is a preview:<br />(click images for larger size)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/wonder_woman_30002.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/wonder_woman_30002.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/wonder_woman_30003.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/wonder_woman_30003.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/wonder_woman_30004.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/wonder_woman_30004.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/wonder_woman_30005.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/wonder_woman_30005.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/wonder_woman_30006.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/wonder_woman_30006.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /></div>BishopJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15381093717244901314noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35214755.post-91301716925937322852006-10-21T03:30:00.000-07:002006-10-21T11:44:14.093-07:00Suggested Reading...<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/TeenTitansLogo.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/400/TeenTitansLogo.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/Teentitans1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 152px; height: 228px;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/Teentitans1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Before there was a Young Avengers there were Teen Titans. The Teen Titans were created way back in 1964 for a storyline in The Brave And The Bold #54. They consisted of Aqua Lad, Robin, and Kid Flash who were the <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">teen aged</span> side kicks of <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Aquaman</span>, Batman, and The Flash. By the time they were given their own book they had taken on Wonder Woman's little sister Wonder Girl and Green Arrow's side kick Speedy. These five (in modern continuity) are considered the founding members of the team.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/7169_19212_2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/7169_19212_2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The series really didn't have a huge following until The New Teen Titans debuted in 1980. The new roster included founding members Robin, Wonder Girl, and Kid Flash along with newcomers Changeling, Raven, <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Starfire</span> and Cyborg. This version of the group ended up being <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">DC's</span> best selling book <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">throughout</span> the 80's. It made stars of writer Marv <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">Wolfman</span> and artist George Perez. During the 90's the book's popularity waned and several different attempts to recapture it's popularity failed.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/teen_titans_current.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/teen_titans_current.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The series was revamped in 2003 by Geoff Johns and Mike <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">McKone</span>. This version of the team started a new wave of interest and now the book is back in the best selling lists.<br />I have chosen a few of my very favorite <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">story lines</span> from the 80's to the present. These books have brought me great entertainment!!!<br /><br />Here are some favorites:<br /><br />(click photos for links)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.amazon.com/New-Teen-Titans-Judas-Contract/dp/093028934X/sr=1-1/qid=1161455883/ref=sr_1_1/104-1608867-2705561?ie=UTF8&s=books"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/3772_400x600.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0); font-weight: bold;">The Judas Contract: <span style="font-style: italic;">Marv <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">Wolfman</span>, George Perez</span></span>; This was the beginning of a more serious tone for the Teen Titans. It is possibly the most well known and critically acclaimed story line in Titans history. The Titans take in a new member named Terra. She becomes very close to them (especially Changeling) and everything seems like a fairy tale. One day things take a terrible turn and the Titans learn every rose has it's thorns. This is also around the time that Dick <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">Grayson</span> stops being Robin and a new hero (<span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">Nightwing</span>) is born. This story is really a classic in the eyes of DC readers and creators alike. It is a must read.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.amazon.com/New-Teen-Titans-Terror-Trigon/dp/1563899442/ref=pd_sim_b_2/104-1608867-2705561?ie=UTF8"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/1456_400x600.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255); font-weight: bold;">The Terror of <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">Trigon</span>: <span style="font-style: italic;">Marv <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_12">Wolfman</span>, George Perez</span></span>; This is my all time favorite Titans storyline!!! Raven has been changing for months but no one notices <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_13">until</span> it is too late. <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_14">Armageddon</span> is upon us and the only ones who might be able to stop it are the Titans. George Perez's artwork is always awesome, but in this story it is amazing. He manages to give us a vision of Hell that is truly horrifying. I can't really think of anything that is wrong with this collection. I loved every single issue.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.amazon.com/Teen-Titans-Kids-Game-Book/dp/1401203086/sr=1-2/qid=1161428328/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/104-1608867-2705561?ie=UTF8&s=books"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/3776_400x600.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(255, 204, 0); font-weight: bold;">A Kid's Game: <span style="font-style: italic;">Geoff Johns, Mike <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_15">McKone</span></span></span>; This is the first story arc in the 2003 revamp of the Titans. I was very suspicious of this and it took me forever to actually read it. When I did I was pleasantly surprised! This story rocks. Cyborg, <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_16">Starfire</span> and Beast Boy (aka Changeling) decide it is up to them to give the younger generation the guidance and <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_17">opportunities</span> they once had...but new new generation of <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_19">heroes</span> is very apprehensive after the very tragic failure of their first attempt at a team (Young Justice). I could barely watch it last season. We have had a very rocky relationship through the years. This season I have been pleasantly surprised! Smallville is back for a sixth season and so far it is my favorite of the bunch!<br /><br />For those of you that don't know anything about the show:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/hdnet_feb_smallville.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 244px; height: 136px;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/hdnet_feb_smallville.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Smallville tells the story of a high school (now college) aged Clark Kent. At the beginning of the series he is sort of nerdy and in love with Lana Lang. He has two good friends: Pete and Chloe. Chloe was invented for the television series but I think DC has officially bought the rights to the character so they can fit her into the comic book universe. While some things from the comic book have been changed for better television I have to say they stay pretty true to the spirit of the Superman story. I think the Chloe character (who is Lois Lane's cousin) was supposed to be their answer for Lois Lane. Then they decided to bring the real Lois Lane into the fold which I thought was going to be a disaster. It wasn't half bad. Smallville's Lois Lane is an outsider who is a little older than the kids we know. She thinks Clark is a doofus (good), she is bored by journalism (until recently), and she has balls of steel. The show has been embraced by the people who have been involved with telling the Superman story over the years. There have been great cameos during the past six years. The ones I remember most are Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder.<br /><br />The cast has been very good throughout the six years it has been on the air.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/clark3.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/clark3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Tom Welling plays Clark as a well intentioned good guy. He really makes boy scout types seem sort of hot. He is at his best when discovering a new power. It is funny watching his relationship with Lois. They hated each other for a long time, but now they sort of tolerate each other. He hasn't really learned to fly yet and I hope he doesn't until the end of the series.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/season2-new-bo.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/season2-new-bo.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/season1-marthacoat.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/season1-marthacoat.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Martha and Jonathan Kent were played by very lovable actors Annette O'Toole and John Schneider. Yep, you are right--that is the Lana Lang from the 3rd movie and that is Bo Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard. They manage to make being super moral parents not annoying. Their pep talks always choke me up. It was a real tragedy when Jonathan passed away in the 100th episode.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/lana4.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/lana4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/chloe1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/chloe1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Lana (who manages to get knocked out more than Giles from Buffy) is sweet and annoying at the same time! I swear I have no idea how this girl doesn't have brain damage! She is played by Kristen Kreuk very well. To her credit, Lana is way less annoying this season.<br />I think Chloe is the fan favorite even though she isn't really part of the comic book story. She is a go-getter but more of a book worm type than Lois Lane. She is the only remaining friend (Pete left town) that knows Clark's big secret.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/lois3.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/lois3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/lex6.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/lex6.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Speaking of Lois, Erika Durance rocks as Lois Lane! She is a know it all (who doesn't know that much) and a tom boy, but she's a girly<span style="font-weight: bold;">-</span>girl too! I love this interpretation of the character. It is fun watching her discover who we know she will turn out to be.<br />Everyone loves the way Micheal Rosenbaum plays Lex. He is complex and likeable but also very scary sometimes. This might actually be the first Lex Luthor that isn't a total joke!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/smallville.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/smallville.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />We have been through 4 years of Clark in high school and now he has graduated and is sometimes in college. Chloe is working at the Daily Planet in Metropolis as an intern with a newly introduced Jimmy Olsen. Clark was recently sent to the Phantom Zone by a Zod possessed Lex Luthor. Johnathan Kent died last season and Martha is trying to carry on while Lionel Luthor (Lex's dad) comforts her. Lois Lane decides that there are some stories that need to be told to the public (even though she has no concept of spell check). She chooses to go to the local gossip rag after Chloe laughs her out of the Daily Planet. Lex and Lana have decided to become a couple after he got un-possessed. When Clark escaped the Phantom Zone he accidentally let out a few criminals who are as super powered as he is. By the way, they are not all from Krypton, they are from every known galaxy. Now he is having to deal with this mistake. Last (but not least) we have been introduced to Oliver Queen (a former school mate of Lex Luthor) who is a millionaire and has a knack for shooting a bow and arrow. He also has an eye for a certain Miss Lane!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/jimmy2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/jimmy2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/1600/oliver4.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/200/oliver4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />This season has only had three episodes but they have all been good. I really like the additions of Oliver Queen and Jimmy Olsen to the fold. They have just the right kind of energy to balance the regular cast members. Jimmy really likes Chloe and his jealousy of Clark is so funny. Aaron Ashmore (Ice Man's twin brother) is perfect in the role! You get the impression that he would be sort of cool anywhere else in the world. He loves photography but doesn't have the same fearless quality that Chloe and especially Lois has. Oh! By the way, he would like to be called "James". Justin Hartley plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. He has just the right amount of cocky to not be annoying. I have high hopes for his story arc.<br /><br />If you are interested in checking out this season of Smallville you can visit the official website by clicking on the photo below:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.cwtv.com/shows/smallville"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/5539/4298/320/SmallvilleSeason6fullcast.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />You can also just check out the CW's web pages!<br /><br />Enjoy!<br /><br /><br /><br /></div>BishopJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15381093717244901314noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35214755.post-1160394269926041952006-10-09T04:06:00.000-07:002006-10-17T00:20:07.497-07:00My New Favorite Fluff<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/GOTHAM_GIRLS_5.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/400/GOTHAM_GIRLS_5.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Gotham Girls is a really fun web cartoon that ran for three seasons...or I guess you could say 30 episodes. They are really short (maybe 2 or 3 minutes max) cartoons that feature the women of Gotham City.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/gothamgirls.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/gothamgirls.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />They are fun and totally interactive! Sometimes you have to complete a task to watch the rest of the episode! I really love the animation...it is very graphic and in your face. Each episode also has a game that goes with it. I think it is perfect for when you just want to zone out for 3 or 4 minutes. The episodes and games can be a little addictive.<br /><br />(Click Images Below For Links)<br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-size:130%;" ><span style="font-weight: bold;">Official Website</span></span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/GOTHAM_GIRLS_3.jpg"></a><a href="http://www2.warnerbros.com/web/gothamgirls/index.jsp"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/GOTHAM_GIRLS_3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>(only has last ten episodes but has lots of other cool things to read and play)<br /><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-size:130%;" ><span style="font-weight: bold;">World's Finest</span></span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/GOTHAM_GIRLS_2.jpg"></a><a href="http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/gothamgirls/multi/episodes/"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/GOTHAM_GIRLS_2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>(all episodes here...but way fewer extras)<br /><br /><br />I hope you stop by and try it out...but don't say I didn't warn you about the potential addiction! It has consistently been one of the poorest selling comic books for DC. I ADORE THIS BOOK !!!<br /><br />Kate Spencer is a feisty prosecutor who is disgusted by the lack of justice when dealing with super villains. After one of her cases goes badly she decides to take justice into her own hands. She manages to obtain several abandoned costume pieces from various super villains and heroes. She becomes Manhunter and serves her own style of justice! This book also has one of the most interesting and diverse cast of supporting characters ever!<br /><br />This poor title has really been through the ringer! After the "one year later" event happened (all DC titles fast forwarded forward one year) we found that Kate had become a defense attorney. She was now defending the very super villains that she was against before. The book actually got cancelled this year...but after many letters to the VIPs of DC and a very organized campaign by fans, DC chose to extend the title for five more issues. Now we are getting a new five issue arc starting in December. It will involve Kate acting as defense Attorney for none other than Wonder Woman.<br /><br />I urge anyone who may come across this post to go out and pick up this title. There is a collection of the first six issues you can buy <span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;font-size:130%;" ><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Manhunter-Street-Justice-Marc-Andreyko/dp/1401207286/sr=8-3/qid=1159833542/ref=pd_bbs_3/103-6567892-9331857?ie=UTF8&s=books">HERE</a></span>. "The Big Three" are Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. They have been DC constants from the beginning! They are probably the three most recognizable super heroes in the world. They have had countless stories written about them and each has had success in television, radio and film. They are true American icons so I figured why not start with them. I am going to give you very brief histories and then let you know what I think of their latest incarnations!<br /><br />We can start with the original...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/SUPERMAN7.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/SUPERMAN7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-size:130%;" >Superman: The Man of Steel</span><br /><br />Superman was first seen in Action Comics #1 in 1938. The basic history is that he is an alien living among us. He was born on the planet Krypton. His dad figured out the planet was going to explode so he built a rocket that would send his son to earth (a planet he could live on). He launches the rocket and the boy crashes on a Kansas farm. He is raised by a simple American family who teaches him to keep his powers a secret and a bunch of healthy morals!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Action1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/Action1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />He eventually moves to the big city (Metropolis) and works as a reporter for The Daily Planet (news paper). He meets a bunch of people there...most notably Lois Lane...who he eventually marries. Lois does know that mild mannered reporter "Clark Kent" is Superman.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/superman4.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/superman4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Superman has been very successful in the radio, television and film industries. He is probably most remembered in the Christopher Reeve movies. Now he has a television show and a film out. The show is Smallville. It basically tells you the story of Superman's teen years. The film is Superman Returns. Brandon Routh was cast as Superman. I thought he was good in the film. A lot of people can't give up the Christopher Reeve ghost. I liked the film...except for the revelation at the end. I won't spoil it for you! For a more indepth review of the film check out the archives in my other blog <span style="font-weight: bold;font-size:130%;" ><a href="http://imnotonetotalkbut.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_imnotonetotalkbut_archive.html">HERE</a></span>.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Deathofsuperman.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/Deathofsuperman.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Recently the DC Universe was rocked by a "Crisis". That is a story in itself...the point is this "Crisis" really had major effects on "the big three". They all took a solid year off of being the three biggest heroes in the world. The case of Superman's dissappearance is a little more interesting. See, he lost all his powers after flying through a Red Sun during the crisis. He had no choice but to live life as a very vulnerable Clark Kent.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Superman_650.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/Superman_650.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Superman one year later is definitely a success story. He gradually got his powers back (our yellow sun is the source) and is now currently being Superman again. I think the new book is a blast to read! The only thing I think is lame is Lois Lane's hair. There was a 8 issue arc called "Up, up and Away!" that started the post Infinite Crisis Superman that pretty much rocked. Up until the crisis Superman had somehow forgotten what it was to be...well...super! He was sort of whiney and annoying. After the crisis he was totally back on track. I give props to DC for making the boy scout cool again.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Superman.1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/Superman.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />All Star Superman (a separate story that well established writers and artists work on) has gotten amazing reviews. I have been reading it and am not much of a fan. I think it is just because the artist makes everyone look like they have Down Syndrome.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/3_Myth-Batman.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/3_Myth-Batman.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);font-size:130%;" ><span style="font-weight: bold;">Batman: The Dark Knight</span></span><br /><br />Batman was first seen in Detective Comics #1 in 1939. Detective Comics was such an overwhelming success that the company changed it's name to DC Comics. DC=Detective Comics. Batman is the darker of the big three. By day he is billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne by night Batman. Bruce Wayne grew up wealthy. His parents were killed by a mugger in front of him when he was a child. Now Bruce Wayne dresses like a bat and crime fights. He is located in Gotham City. He usually has a boy side kick called Robin. There have been a few Robins...but for a while there wasn't one.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/tec27padpaw.0.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/tec27padpaw.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Arguably the most traumatic experience in Batman's life was the murder of his second Robin (aka Jason Todd). Jason Todd was impulsive and a loose cannon. He was killed by Batman's nemesis the Joker. It was pretty sad.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Deadjason.png"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/Deadjason.png" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Batman (in my opinion) was at his worst right before Infinite Crisis. He was paranoid and delusional. Nobody wanted to be around him (including Superman and Wonder Woman). He had created this weird satellite that knew all about everyone's secret identities and then some jerk stole it. He was the cause of much hurt and death last year. At the end of Infinite Crisis he took a year long vacation with Dick Grayson (original Robin) and Tim Drake (current Robin).<br />When they all came back one year later Batman was much more laid back.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/onesheet-thumb.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/onesheet-thumb.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Batman has probably been the most successful of the big three in the land of film and television. He had a fun (and very campy) television show in the 1960's. He has had a string of very popular films and animated series. The current Batman is being played by Christian Bale. The film Batman Begins was a monster success and they are currently making a sequel with Heath Ledger taking on the role of the Joker.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Batmanlee.1.png"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/Batmanlee.png" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />In comic book land Batman is back to his cool self. The recent discovery of a son has really thrown Batman for a loop. He finally opened himself up enough to adopt one of his wards (Tim Drake) and was instrumental in getting Wonder Woman a life (one year later). I really like the new Batman.<br /><br />All Star Batman and Robin SUX!!! I don't get it at all. They are always way late and I swear it has been like 4 or 5 issues and Batman hasn't left the damned Batmobile. Whatever DC.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/WONDER_WOMAN_MYTHOLOGY.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/WONDER_WOMAN_MYTHOLOGY.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(255, 204, 0);font-size:130%;" ><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />Wonder Woman: The Amazing Amazon<br /></span></span><br />Wonder Woman first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in 1941. She is credited as being the first super heroine that was an actual success. She was created by William Moultan Marsden and his wife Elizabeth. Marsden also created the polygraph (lie detector) machine! No wonder she carries around her lasso of truth!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Wonderwoman1.2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/Wonderwoman1.1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Princess Diana of the Amazons saves pilot Steve Trevor and chooses to leave her Paradise Island so she can take him home. She ends up becoming a crime fighting heroine in America. Wonder Woman tends to be the most controversial character of the big three. She has definitely been the most tampered with! Through the years she has been: a nurse, a secretary, an ambassador, fast-food worker, a goddess and most recently a wanted felon.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/WWMax.png"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/WWMax.png" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />In what was probably the shock of the year DC chose to have Wonder Woman commit the murder that set the "crisis" ball a rolling! She was faced with the question "Do I kill the guy that is mind controlling Superman or do I let him go and hope for the best?" She chose the kill and boy did that spark major controversy! In the end of Infinite Crisis she chose to take a year off like SM and BM did. She wanted to find herself. Oh! Not to mention not go back to jail.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/wonderwoman.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/wonderwoman.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Wonder Woman was a hit show in the 1970's. Ms World winner Lynda Carter was cast in the role and is probably the most influential person on the character in the past 30 yrs. You think Wonder Woman...you automatically picture Ms. Carter!<br />This has been a weird year for Diana. She murdered a guy THEN the Amazons left her alone when they left our dimension! Her Gods left her and she lost most of her friends. Then her book was cancelled. Wh-What???<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/wwgoddess.0.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/320/wwgoddess.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Luckily DC started her over at #1 and we got introduced to a brand new (better than ever) Wonder Woman. Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has been signed on to write and direct a new Wonder Woman film. The search for the new Wonder Woman is heating up and I can't wait to see what happens. The new book is good, really good, but it is bi-monthly which SUX. Then again I would have a really good book less often than a sucktastic book every month. If you haven't read the new Wonder Woman go out and give it a try. Also look for an All Star Wonder Woman book that should come down early next year!<br /><br />whew...that's enough for now...more later...<br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> </div>BishopJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15381093717244901314noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35214755.post-1159495753308298272006-09-28T18:50:00.000-07:002006-10-17T00:20:06.987-07:00In the beginning...<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Wonderwoman1.0.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/Wonderwoman1.0.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/5471_400x600.2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/5471_400x600.1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a></div><br />I started reading comics at a very young age. I have always been a DC boy and I will continue to be. My first exposure to comics was when my mother decided to move for the zillionth time. We moved into a rent-a-home and once again I was left with no friends. It was summer so at least I didn't have to deal with a new school yet! This little rent-a home had a shed next to it. One day I decided to be brave and check it out. Inside the wasp infested shed there were stacks (and I mean STACKS) of old comic books! I only got the door open a little bit before I got scared of the wasps. It was while before I got the nerve to take a can of Raid and attack the evil wasps so I could claim my treasure. When I did I was surprised to find a bunch of old DC books! I'm talking serious old school stuff. I got to learn about The Legion of Super Heroes and even got to read the very first Teen Titans story! It was cool...at least it was to me.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/adventure247.0.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/adventure247.0.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/BB54.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/BB54.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Over the next few years I read every single book in that shed. Even the Archie books which were not as interesting as the super hero books. I was so stupid looking back on it. I was sitting on a gold mine! If I had bagged and tagged those bitches I probably could have made a ton of cash! Instead I devoured them and they all but fell apart from my handling them.<br /><br />When I ran out of books my mother informed me that some of those titles were still in print. I was shocked! I couldn't believe these stories could still be told all these years later! I began buying the new books and I have been hooked ever since. I may move to another state (I have a bit of my mother's gypsy nature) and I may make new friends...but one thing that stays constant are the characters that were my "friends" no matter what!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/Legion33.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/Legion33.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/1600/TeenTitansOYL.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7815/3230/200/TeenTitansOYL.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />This is going to be a place where I talk about my favorite DC books of the moment. I will try to be fair...but I will not pull punches if I think something is bullshit!<br /><br />Hope you enjoy!<br /><br />To Look Forward To: The New DCU...52...The Big Three...and what is up with Dick Grayson???<br /><br /></div>BishopJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15381093717244901314noreply@blogger.com0
